Kids of all ages and interests will find plenty to love about the Ben E. Clement Mineral Museum. The many dazzling shapes and colors of the specimens are always a hit with our younger visitors, invoking a sense of awe and wonder we can’t help but think parallels that of young Ben when he first caught his first glimpse of the heavens through that storied telescope!
Don’t let the words “museum” and “history” scare them off; while they are indeed accurate descriptors, they don’t paint an accurate picture of the wonders they will find (and find they will!) in our many collections.
The incredible natural shapes and colors on display with our incredible mineral collection are the main attraction. As you might have heard, this is the largest collection of fluorite crystal specimens in the United States, if not the world! They are sure to be overwhelmed by their beauty (they look great for their age!), but you might also say they will find many of the specimens illuminating
Even the young video game enthusiasts in your life will find a connection in the museum!
Kids who love a certain MINE-themed video game that involves lots of CRAFTing will take note of the amazing shapes of many of our specimens. They might also see some striking similarities in the tools used to procure these gems to the ones they keep in their own chests!
But remember, it’s not just an incredible collection of specimens you’ll find at the Ben E. Clement Mineral Museum. You’re also going to find old artifacts, decades-old photographs, and many prehistoric fossils, including a fossilized dinosaur egg!
